According to the Brundtland Commission, sustainability means meeting our present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In addition to natural resources, we also need social and economic resources. Sustainability is not just environmentalism. Embedded in most definitions of sustainability, we also find concerns for social equity and economic development. While most people primarily associate sustainability with environmental conservation, it is about people and the health of our communities! There are three main components of sustainability: environmental conservation, social responsibility, and economic development.
As a responsible brand, our mission is to follow the guidelines of sustainability as much as we can. By producing our collections we want to have a positive impact on the environment and society! Read below how we contribute to making some changes in this industry.
Nearly 70 million barrels of oil are used each year to make the world’s polyester fiber, which is now the most commonly used fiber in clothing worldwide. But it takes more than 200 years to decompose!
That is why we use only safe materials for the sake of the environment and, of course, your kids’ skin. We guarantee the supreme quality that is certified by several international certificates. Our main domain is the best bamboo fabric together with GOTS cotton, and recycled jeans. Thus, we are not only providing safe fabrics, but also extreme quality.
More than $500 billion of value is lost every year due to clothing underutilization and the lack of recycling!
That is why we do not want to contribute to this overall waste. We decided to choose jeans materials that are from recycling only. We use materials that have a second life and a chance to become the most frequently worn and favourite piece of outfit of your child! We are proud of working with the jeans material regarded as Global Recycle Standard.
Researchers claim that adults use clothes for approximately 2 years and small children for half of one year only!
That is why we want to promote the idea of conscious shopping among parents. The cuts of clothes, which we design, are constructed in such a way to be worn by the child for at least a couple of seasons, e.g. we add extra centimeters to the sleeves and the legs. Actually, all the time, we mindfully create our prints together with our well-experienced constructors to achieve practicalness.
What is more, we encourage parents to care about the materials they choose for their children. Safety and quality should be the two most important factors while selecting children’s wear.
The fashion industry contributes around 10% of all global greenhouse gas emissions!
That is why PAVONADA’s collections are sewn 100% in Poland, in small local-family sewing houses. This way we support local economy and small entrepreneurships, and we do not use services of external gigantic factories producing tones of greenhouse gases.
20% of global production waste comes from the textile and apparel sectors!
That is why we go with the zero-waste policy, limiting the waste. Our idea is to use all the scraps and offcuts to create small extra gifts for our customers. These can be for instance hair bands or scrunchies. We never throw away anything that is considered leftover. We keep everything for further usage.
It takes 500 (or more) years for a plastic bag to degrade in a landfill!
That is why we decided to switch from plastic wrapping completely and we only use eco biodegradable solutions. Your orders arrive at your door in environmental-friendly wrappings, therefore, we can reduce the carbon footprint. Your wrapped clothes are put into the cardboards that we predominantly select and add extra funds to the production of them, which results in planting new trees.
Even though you don’t want your old clothes anymore, it’s almost guaranteed that someone else will. There are many people in need of usable clothing!
That is why we support our local children’s hospice Nadzieja (pol. Hope) and take part in several local voluntary actions. We believe that sustainability should not only focus on eco-friendly fabrics, but it is the social responsibility that matters. We want to help people who are in need and we kindly encourage you to join us.
Two in five consumers say they don’t know which brands they should trust!
That is why we are transparent for you! We are constantly making sure we follow the rule of transparency. You know exactly the materials we use and all of our steps during the production process. We aim to inform you about everything for you to have your own opinions, views, and specific facts about our actions. We strongly believe that being honest in this industry is extremely important, especially when it comes to the child’s wear.
Of all adults with Internet access, 71% use social media!
That is why we use our social media channels and our website to promote our social campaign. Since we want to have an impact on society, we need to spread not only the combined idea of sustainable, conscious, slow, and eco fashion but also the sustainable approach to the children's up-bringing. In our RETRO collection, we long for the past and for what is already unfashionable in human relations. We want to show that despite the online development of the world and all technologies, we still can consciously choose to what extent we want to use these technologies and how much they should coexist in the lives of our children. RETRO is absolutely sentimental and nostalgic, full of warmth and above all - timeless. In fact, we add something to your orders that reminds us about the old days of carefree fun- the classical yo-yo toy! We like being RETRO, how about you?
All of our knitwears and fabrics are certified by Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate, proving their safety for the child’s skin and reassuring us about no usage of substances dangerous for man and the environment.
Our cotton knitwears have the GOTS certificate, guaranteeing the natural origin of the fabric and ecological cultivation of cotton. Our producers are obliged to use the closed water circuit and purifiers. It is extremely important when it comes to the cotton that undergoes wet spinning.
Bamboo- it is very environmentally friendly. Because bamboo grows very fast, the cultivation of it is much quicker and efficient than the cultivation of cotton. Thanks to its natural antibacterial and antifungal traits there is no need to use chemicals and pesticides during the cultivation process, which might be dangerous for nature. Bamboo knitwears have also hygroscopic and thermoregulatory properties- in the summertime, they pleasantly cool the body, in the wintertime, they provide heating. Our bamboo knitwears are extremely soft to the touch and light, which makes them the perfect choice for the most sensitive skin of a child. Allergy sufferers and atopic dermatitis sufferers would love our products for their properties, too.
Organic GOTS cotton- we get it from the ecological crops, where there are neither chemical additives used nor artificial fertilizers added. During the cultivation process of organic cotton farmers only use non-poisonous, safe substances which are biodegradable. Eco farmers collect the cotton by hand, guaranteeing the purest state of a crop. Organic cotton is softer to the touch than the usual one. Also, it is much lighter, gentle, and it is safer for the child’s skin. It is less risky to wear clothes made of this material by allergy sufferers because it won’t cause any rash or harm to the skin.
The conventional cultivation of cotton has a non-beneficial impact on the environment and it strongly burdens employees (at least 20.000 people from developing countries die because of the poisoning with pesticides used during the cultivation, and 3 million suffer from severe side effects). About 11% of all pesticides used in the world are used in its production, despite the fact that cotton constitutes only 2.5% of the world's agricultural acreage. Many plant protection products and fertilizers used in the production of ordinary cotton harm the ecosystems and pollute the local environment, so it is so important to choose organic cotton with a GOTS certificate.
Cotton jeans- the fundamental thing during the production of jeans material is the production of cotton. Jeans is characterized by its diagonal weave of multi-colored fibers. To provide you the best quality and safety for the sensitive skin of a child, we started a cooperation with the best producers of jeans, who give us the certified materials coming from the recycling. Therefore, our jeans products have the Global Recycled Standard certification, and we are sure that we support the protection of the environment.

By making a conscious choice of buying clothes from ethical production lines, you know that your children will be wearing the best quality possible. You teach them consciousness from the very beginning. In addition, you contribute to the limiting of a carbon footprint and enhancing recycling. You see, we are all in this together, also when it comes to limiting the waste. Moreover, buying at Pavonada means supporting various communities.
